CyberKnife Case Study | CyberKnife Treatment for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

2025-11-04

Patient: Female, 72 years old, diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).

The patient has a history of smoking and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). She was diagnosed with a PET-positive lesion in the right upper lobe (RUL) of the lung. Four years ago, the lesion was 1 cm in diameter, appeared inactive, and no intervention was performed. Later, she developed severe shortness of breath and cough. A repeat chest CT scan showed the lesion had enlarged to 1.5 x 1.2 cm. A biopsy confirmed the lesion was consistent with NSCLC. The patient was diagnosed with Stage 1a Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (T1N0M0 NSCLC).

Outcome and Follow-up

Eleven months after CyberKnife treatment, PET-CT imaging showed no detectable lesion, revealing only residual scarring with no PET-positive activity. The patient's physical condition is excellent, and no adverse complications have been reported.
