International Oncology Summit Opens in Foshan, Building a Platform for Global Academic Exchange
As a key part of the summit, the program featured sessions covering a wide range of topics, including the Radiosurgery Society (RSS) overview of radiation therapy activities; the development of radiation therapy in Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and China; functional radiosurgery; integrated innovative immunotherapy; stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for breast cancer; CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery; radioligand-based precision diagnosis and treatment of tumors; boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT); advances in CAR-T cell therapy; ultrasound treatment for liver cancer; and the application of appropriate Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques in comprehensive cancer care. Through this platform, we hope to transform cutting-edge global academic advances into accessible and affordable treatment solutions for patients, with academics as the core and patients as the center.”

Global Oncology Collaboration Alliance Established to Build a Network for Remote Consultations and Second Opinions
One of the key outcomes of the summit was the official establishment of the Global Oncology Collaboration Alliance. By bringing together healthcare institutions and oncology experts from different countries and regions, the alliance will explore mechanisms for international collaboration, promote the sharing of clinical experience, healthcare resources, and professional expertise, and gradually establish an international network for remote consultations and second opinions. In the future, alliance members will be able to conduct online case discussions for challenging and complex oncology cases, providing multidisciplinary recommendations for diagnosis and treatment. Where appropriate, they will also explore more streamlined mechanisms for patient referrals and collaboration in healthcare services.

In medical education and clinical technology exchange, Fosun Health and partner institutions in Vietnam, including Oriental Hospital, Hung Vuong Hospital, and Truong Thang Oncology Clinic, are further advancing continuing medical education (CME), and the training and transfer of clinical technology. In the future, the two sides can develop cooperation mechanisms based on professional needs in oncology diagnosis and treatment, including short-term clinical training, remote case discussions, specialized academic conferences, and physician exchanges, to promote the sharing of clinical experience across different healthcare systems.

Shen Yun, Co-President of Fosun Health and General Manager of the International Cooperation Department, said: “Internationalization is not simply about ‘going out’ or ‘bringing in’. It is about integrating healthcare through academic exchange and a patient-centered approach. We hope to move from ‘single-visit care’ to ‘end-to-end navigation’, making cross-border oncology care smoother and more human-centered.”

From “Single-Visit Care” to “End-to-End Navigation”: Exploring New Pathways for Cross-Border Healthcare Services
To address the systemic barriers faced by international oncology patients, including payment, visas, language, medical-record translation, and post-treatment follow-up, Fosun Health is exploring an “end-to-end navigation” service model. Before treatment, patients can submit their medical records through overseas offices or remote consultation platforms. Professional teams translate and conduct preliminary reviews of medical records, while oncology experts carry out an initial assessment. During treatment, patients receive multilingual assistance, dual-physician management by generalists and specialists, and multidisciplinary coordination. After treatment, regular follow-up is provided through a remote follow-up platform. With patient authorization and in compliance with applicable requirements, medical records and imaging can also be shared with local physicians, creating a continuous care model of “treatment in China + local follow-up.”
For cross-border payments, Fosun Health is working with international insurance partners, including Prudential, AIA, Allianz, AXA, Cigna, Manulife, and Asia Insurance, to promote direct insurance billing and support multi-currency settlement, reducing payment barriers for patients. For data transfer, the remote consultation platform enables the encrypted transmission of medical records and imaging, supporting multidisciplinary consultations with overseas healthcare institutions and local physicians. These initiatives aim to keep data moving while reducing the need for patients to travel, gradually improving the accessibility and continuity of cross-border oncology care.
Connecting Through Academics and Putting Patients First to Advance International Healthcare Integration
Fosun Health’s four hospitals in the Greater Bay Area have collectively provided services to more than 50,000 international patients from over 130 countries and regions. Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital is one of the first hospitals in Guangdong Province designated as a pilot institution for international healthcare services and the only private healthcare institution in Foshan selected for the program. Its International Medical Center covers 20,000 square meters and has a planned capacity of 100 beds. The center integrates outpatient care, inpatient care, health examinations, and rehabilitation, and adopts a dual-physician management model combining generalists and specialists. The hospital is equipped with one of the only CyberKnife M6 systems in South China. Together with advanced technologies such as CAR-T cell therapy and the Da Vinci Surgical System, these capabilities form a comprehensive care pathway from precision diagnosis to personalized treatment.
