"Absolutely amazing! It's been 3 years, you've created a miracle. Very few people achieve what you have!"
"We are especially grateful to you and Dr. Yang. The technical expertise and concepts brought back from abroad have helped so many people..."

Recently, at the Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital Tumor Precision Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Ms. Yu (a pseudonym) from Henan Province was preparing for discharge. Through the dedicated collaboration of a team of domestic and international oncology experts, they successfully 'snatched her back from the clutches of the tumor' multiple times, repelling kidney cancer, brain metastases, and breast cancer.
From being comatose to moving freely, even achieving near complete resolution on PET-CT—this is more than just a simple miracle!
01 Multiple Surgeries Ineffective, Tumor Still Progressed
Ms. Yu, 50 years old, was diagnosed with right renal cell carcinoma in 2019 and underwent resection. Subsequently, she had five additional surgeries at multiple top-tier hospitals in Beijing, Henan, Anhui, and other locations.
◆ September 2019: Underwent right renal cell carcinoma resection. Pathological stage: pT3aNxMO.
◆ November 2019: Metastasis found in the left upper lung; underwent left upper lobectomy.
◆ April 2020: Head MRI indicated multiple space-occupying lesions in the left lateral ventricle trigone and right cerebellar hemisphere; underwent brain metastasis resection (details unspecified).
Despite multiple surgeries, Ms. Yu's condition still failed to be effectively controlled and even showed signs of deterioration. Doctors at a Beijing hospital were no longer recommending further surgery for Ms. Yu and began advising her to return home. Thus, Ms. Yu returned to her hometown in Henan with tears in her eyes. Unwilling to give up, Ms. Yu and her family sought out 'cancer treatment miracle workers' locally. However, being a medical professional herself, she insisted that even in desperation, one must not seek treatment recklessly, and strove to find professional, standardized anti-cancer methods in major hospitals.
The reprieve was short-lived. Under the torment of the disease, Ms. Yu gradually experienced increasing fatigue, dizziness, and occasional confusion, nearly losing hope and considering giving up...
02 Contacting International Experts, Journey to Foshan for Treatment
Fortunately, persistence paid off. Through the kind assistance of a fellow townsman, Ms. Yu's family successfully contacted Dr. Yang Jun, PhD, at the Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital Tumor Precision Diagnosis and Treatment Center. Learning that he was an international authority in radiation therapy greatly boosted their confidence.
After careful assessment, Dr. Yang confirmed that Ms. Yu's situation was indeed challenging, but not hopeless. To avoid delaying treatment, he recommended that Ms. Yu come to Foshan as soon as possible for a face-to-face consultation and comprehensive check-ups, to arrange an International Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) consultation, and to develop a targeted comprehensive treatment plan.

Thus, Ms. Yu, who could no longer walk on her own and was in a semi-comatose state, made the arduous journey to Foshan. To better tailor the treatment plan, a comprehensive examination was performed. The results revealed an urgent situation with brain metastases: multiple abnormal signal shadows in the cerebellar vermis, left posterior horn of the lateral ventricle, and surrounding white matter, considered likely multiple metastases with possible hemorrhage; abnormal signal shadow in the right cerebellar hemisphere, considered a possible metastasis; post-operative changes in the neck consistent with metastatic tumor resection, and possible bilateral cervical metastatic lymphadenopathy.
03 International Multidisciplinary Team Consultation, Rapid Improvement
The initial consultation was with Director Lu Qiuxia, Medical Director of the Tumor Center. With over twenty years of deep experience in head, neck, and thoracic oncology, and extensive expertise in non-invasive precise tumor ablation, she strongly agreed that Ms. Yu should undergo an International Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) consultation to obtain a comprehensive oncology treatment plan.

Based on Ms. Yu's physical and mental condition, the specific location, pathological type, extent of invasion, and developmental trend of the tumors, the plan was to apply various effective multidisciplinary treatment methods currently available in a planned and rational manner, aiming to achieve the greatest therapeutic effect with relatively lower economic cost, while simultaneously maximizing the improvement of the patient's quality of life.
During the MDT meeting, Dr. Yang specially invited renowned US Professor Gary Li, Director of the Oncology Department at the MD Anderson Cancer Center-affiliated OhioHealth system, and Professor Dian Wang, Chairman of the Sino-American Radiation Therapy Association, to assist in making specific adjustments to Ms. Yu's medication and dosage, initiating treatment with Sintilimab (immunotherapy) + Axitinib (targeted therapy).
After taking the medication for a period, the results were unexpected. Ms. Yu's physical condition improved rapidly. Within just two weeks, she recovered from a semi-comatose state to clear consciousness, and her mobility gradually returned.

04 Inoperable, SBRT Radiotherapy Precisely Eradicates Tumors
As Ms. Yu had undergone several previous surgeries, her physical condition was not suitable for another operation. Fortunately, precise radiotherapy SBRT technology is particularly suitable for patients who cannot undergo surgery or for whom surgery is difficult. It achieves precise tumor eradication without the need for incision, without pain, and without anesthesia.
Once Ms. Yu's condition stabilized, Director Lu and Dr. Yang personally designed her radiotherapy plan. The control requirements for brain tumor radiotherapy plans are extremely high, demanding meticulous refinement of precision and dosage, requiring repeated optimization...

In January 2021, using Linear Accelerator-based SBRT technology, precise radiotherapy was delivered to the metastatic tumors in Ms. Yu's right cerebellum/corpus callosum splenium left side. The doses were PCTVml DT 25.0Gy/5 fractions, and PGTVm2 DT 21.0Gy/3 fractions.
Sterectactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT):
A highly focused radiation therapy technique that delivers accurately concentrated high-dose radiation to the tumor, while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue as much as possible, aiming for maximal tumor control while ensuring the patient's high quality of life.
It has become the preferred treatment option for many patients with small-volume tumors and those with multiple metastases, where surgery may no longer be the best treatment method. Currently, SBRT is applied in the treatment of tumors throughout the body, including extracranial sites such as the head and neck, chest, abdomen (liver, pancreas, adrenal glands), prostate, pelvis, and bone.
05 New breast cancer, gradually relieved
Just as everything was moving in a positive direction, misfortune struck again – as often happens. A PET/CT examination revealed a breast mass in Ms. Yu, diagnosed as newly occurring breast cancer.
Having witnessed the dedication and professionalism of the tumor center's expert team, Ms. Yu felt her confidence surge. Her hope was simply this: even if a complete cure wasn't possible, living a few more good years to see her son enter university would make the persistence and effort worthwhile.
◆ January 2021: Underwent ultrasound-guided minimally invasive vacuum-assisted biopsy for the left breast mass. Post-operative pathological diagnosis was left breast ductal carcinoma in situ (intermediate grade). Received post-operative adjuvant radiotherapy combined with endocrine therapy.
◆ June 2022: PET/CT indicated that while the brain metastases were significantly regressing, the left breast lesion area still showed high metabolic activity.
◆ October 2022: Ms. Yu's breast mass symptoms became apparent. A puncture biopsy was performed, with a preliminary diagnosis of: invasive breast cancer.
◆ November 2022: Underwent modified radical mastectomy for left breast cancer. The tumor size was approximately 2cm x 1cm x 0.8cm. Pathology confirmed left breast invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC, rpT2N0M0, HER-2 overexpressing type). After multidisciplinary discussion, she received 6 cycles of TPH maintenance chemotherapy regimen.
◆ February 2023: Underwent resection of the left chest wall lesion. The procedure was smooth.

Scene of CyberKnife treatment
By March 2023, Ms. Yu's breast condition had significantly improved following treatment. Subsequently, she underwent radiotherapy for the tumor lesion near the medial aspect of the right ascending colon, using CyberKnife SBRT. Radiotherapy dose: 35Gy/5 fractions. The procedure was smooth.
This radiotherapy session utilized CyberKnife, which was not available during Ms. Yu's initial treatments in 2022. Now, opting for Foshan's CyberKnife allowed for a higher dose per fraction, fewer treatment sessions, and a more precise tumor control plan, maximizing her treatment efficacy.
Ms. Yu's kidney cancer and brain metastases mostly reached a state of Stable Disease (SD), and there were no signs of lung tumor recurrence. Everything was progressing positively.

In July 2023, a full-body PET/CT examination revealed that the tumors throughout Ms. Yu's body had completely disappeared, achieving a state of clinical complete remission on PET/CT.
06 Family Gratitude: Cost Less Than Expected, Recovery Nearly Complete
Ms. Yu returned for follow-up examinations twice. Her energy and spirit had recovered remarkably well; one could hardly tell she was someone who had battled cancer for five years.
Seeing this 'frequent visitor of the oncology department' being discharged honorably, Director Lu felt very happy for her, while also encouraging Ms. Yu: "No need to worry, take good care of yourself. After discharge, have regular check-ups. You can totally live like anyone else – travel, or even return to simple social work is possible."

Ms. Yu finally felt a weight lift from her heart, considering herself incredibly fortunate to have family who provided care and support. Ms. Yu's husband, particularly emotional, grasped Dr. Yang's hand repeatedly expressing thanks: "Before coming to Foshan, we were mentally prepared to sell our house to cover treatment costs, as long as she could see our child get into university – that alone would have satisfied us." Recalling the difficulties of their journey, he choked up, "The outcome has been a surprise to everyone. The house is still there, and her physical condition is very good. Now the child's mother can personally attend the child's graduation ceremony and experience the atmosphere of a prestigious university."
Ms. Yu said: "I am extremely grateful to Dr. Yang for introducing such excellent radiotherapy technology and advanced international treatment concepts to China, for pulling me back when everyone else was giving up. Even more fortunate was receiving the support and encouragement of my family, which gave me the motivation to keep going."

Upon hearing the good news about Ms. Yu, Foshan Television's "Xiaoqiang Hotline" program came to interview and offer congratulations.
