Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Precision Diagnosis
At Fosun Health, diagnosis is not just about “finding the cancer” — it is about mapping every detail of your tumor to design the most precise battle plan. Our streamlined diagnostic pathway delivers answers within days, not weeks:
A doctor examines the neck for lumps. A flexible endoscope (nasopharyngoscope) is passed through the nose to directly visualize the nasopharynx — quick, painless, and highly sensitive.
If a suspicious lesion is seen, a small tissue sample is taken under local anesthesia (in the clinic) and sent for pathology. This is the gold standard for diagnosis.
Blood tests measure EBV DNA (viral load) and EBV antibodies (VCA-IgA, EA-IgA). High levels strongly suggest NPC and are used for screening, diagnosis, and monitoring treatment response.
- MRI of the Nasopharynx & Skull Base: The best imaging to assess local tumor extent, invasion into bone or brain, and lymph node involvement.
- PET-CT: Reveals the tumor‘s metabolic activity and detects hidden spread to distant organs (bones, liver, lungs). Essential for accurate staging.
Using next generation sequencing (NGS), we analyze mutations (e.g., PIK3CA, TP53) and PD-L1 expression to predict response to targeted therapy or immunotherapy. This ensures your treatment — whether chemotherapy, anti EGFR targeted drugs, or PD-1 inhibitors — is matched to your tumor’s unique biology.
