At Fosun Health, liver cancer diagnosis must answer three critical questions simultaneously: Is it cancer? How far has it spread? How much liver function remains? Our integrated diagnostic pathway delivers all three answers rapidly:
For at-risk patients, we combine liver ultrasound with serum AFP (alpha-fetoprotein) testing. This simple, non-invasive pair catches many tumors at a curable size.
We use multiphasic CT or MRI (arterial, portal venous, and delayed phases) to confirm the diagnosis with classic imaging hallmarks—without always needing a biopsy. This also maps the tumor's exact relationship to major blood vessels.
When imaging is inconclusive, we obtain tissue via CT-guided core needle biopsy or liquid biopsy (circulating tumor DNA) to confirm diagnosis and identify molecular drivers.
- PET-CT: Detects extrahepatic spread to lymph nodes, lungs, or bones.
- Portal Vein Evaluation: Critical for planning—assessing for portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) which changes both stage and strategy.
- Child-Pugh & ICG Test: Quantifies how much functional liver reserve remains, ensuring the treatment plan protects what healthy liver you have left.
