New Chapter in China-Bangladesh Healthcare: Foshan Chancheng Hospital Brings Expertise and Compassion to Dhaka, Elevating Cross-Border Care

The "2025 China-Bangladesh Medical and Education Cooperation Symposium," hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and co-organized by the China-Bangladesh Postgraduate Doctors Alumni Association and the China-Bangladesh Medical Universities Alumni Association, was recently held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, attended and delivered a speech.

Representing Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital, Pan Wei, Deputy General Manager of the International Cooperation Department of Fosun Health, Wu Yaobo, Executive Executive Assistant to the President, and Lyu Wenjuan, Director of the International Business Department, were invited to participate. Together with representatives from the healthcare sectors of both countries, they engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics including cross-border medical collaboration, medical talent cultivation, and joint development of health service systems, exploring new models and pathways for China-Bangladesh medical and health cooperation.

The symposium commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by distinguished guests.

In his address, Cultural Counsellor Li Shaopeng fully affirmed the achievements of China-Bangladesh cooperation in the medical and health field. He stated that the Chinese Embassy would continue to serve as a bridge, supporting medical institutions from both countries in pursuing higher-quality collaboration in service enhancement, technology sharing, and talent exchange.

The Ribbon-cutting Ceremony

During the "Healthcare in China" forum, Pan Wei, Deputy General Manager of the International Cooperation Department of Fosun Health, elaborated on Fosun Health's strategic layout in global medical resource allocation and international medical service network development.

Lü Wenjuan, Head of the International Business Department of Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital, drawing on the hospital’s extensive experience in treating international patients, particularly Muslim patients, detailed its culture and custom-oriented "Warm-hearted Cross-Border Healthcare" service system. This system encompasses full-process humane care measures such as language support, religious dietary arrangements, and family accompaniment services, highlighting the hospital’s attentiveness and professionalism in internationalized services.

Furthermore, the cooperation proposal of "Integrating Medicine and Education between China and Bangladesh, Using Medical Services to Drive Education," put forward by Lü Wenjuan, garnered significant attention from representatives of both sides.

The proposal emphasizes that while providing high-end medical services, efforts should be made to support the cultivation of local medical talents and discipline development in Bangladesh through clinical training, technical exchanges, and academic collaboration.

Subsequently, the "China-Bangladesh Bilateral Cooperation in the Medical Field" forum, chaired by Professor Bulbul Siddiqui, Foreign Dean of the North-South Confucius Institute, further focused on key areas such as practical hospital cooperation, medical training empowerment, and joint prevention and control in public health.

The specially arranged medical cooperation exhibition area at the symposium attracted numerous participants.

Wu Yaobo, Executive Assistant to the President of Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital, shared with the guests the hospital's practices and vision in international cooperation.

He expressed the hospital's anticipation to establish long-term collaborative relationships with Bangladeshi medical institutions. Through initiatives like expert exchanges, remote consultations, technical assistance, and green referral channels, the hospital aims to achieve complementarity and sharing of medical resources.

At the exhibition booth of Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital, a steady stream of visitors sought consultations.

Led by Wu Yaobo and Lyu Wenjuan, the team provided detailed introductions to representatives from Bangladeshi medical institutions, patient service organizations, and various sectors regarding cross-border medical procedures, key specialty advantages, and the coordinated service capabilities of Fosun Health's medical resources. Through real case studies and visual materials, they vividly demonstrated the hospital's comprehensive strengths in areas such as oncology diagnosis and treatment, orthopedics, neurology, urology, minimally invasive surgery, and rehabilitation medicine, resulting in several preliminary cooperation intentions being reached on-site.

This visit to Dhaka has not only deepened Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital's involvement in China-Bangladesh medical collaboration but has also established a more robust bridge for international cooperation for the hospital across the Southeast Asian region.
