Director Tang Xilin treating a patient's eye condition with acupuncture therapy.
Guided by the philosophy of "Integrating Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine," Director Tang Xilin has pursued her medical career for 35 years. As a disciple of a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine, she flexibly applies characteristic TCM therapies—such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, intradermal needling, auricular acupressure, and topical applications—to treat ophthalmic diseases including diabetic retinopathy, macular disorders, fundus hemorrhages, optic nerve atrophy, dry eye syndrome, and asthenopia. Simultaneously, she actively broadened her horizons by frequently participating in domestic and international ophthalmic academic conferences and undertaking advanced training at prestigious institutions like the Xi'an Ophthalmic Research Institute and the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University, diligently mastering microsurgical techniques like phacoemulsification with IOL implantation, Coblation-Assisted Upper-airway Procedures (CAUP), and pterygium ablation. Progressing from theory to practice, and using practice to inform theory, she ultimately grew from an unknown medical student into a recognized expert in TCM ophthalmology.
On May 13, 2023, the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area High-Quality Development Summit Forum on Ophthalmology," jointly organized by the Eye Health Professional Committee of the Guangdong Natural Medicine Research Association and the Visual Care Committee of the Guangdong Health Care Association, and hosted by Shenzhen Hengsheng Hospital, was successfully held. That morning, Director Tang Xilin, representing the hospital, participated in the awarding ceremonies for "Shenzhen Children and Adolescents Myopia Screening Alliance Hospital / Designated Alliance Hospital for Myopia High-Risk Population Examination," "Dry Eye Clinical Research Base (Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine)," and "International Renowned Medical Group Expert Studio," adding new momentum to the development of the hospital's ophthalmology discipline.
