With more than 50 years of practice, he has uniquely treated tens of thousands of urolithiasis patients using “Paishi Tang” (Stone-Expelling Decoction) based on pattern differentiation, achieving excellent results and earning the title “King of Stone Expulsion”. This approach is recognized as one of the “Three Treasures of Chancheng Hospital’s TCM”. He also possesses unique experience in diagnosing and treating conditions such as peptic ulcers, febrile exogenous diseases, infertility, chorea, minor chorea, influenza, dengue fever, acute tonsillitis and pharyngitis, and dysentery. To date, he has treated over 1.7 million patient visits, enjoying outstanding reputation.

Dr. Pan Guoliang is a native traditional Chinese medicine practitioner of Shiwan. He began his apprenticeship in TCM at the age of 14 and studied under Lin Guozhen from the age of 21. He emphasizes patient counseling and is skilled in pulse diagnosis to differentiate the Eight Principles for accurate treatment, with deep research into prognostic pulse diagnosis for critically ill patients. He specializes in treating urinary and biliary stones with TCM, featuring distinct methods in expelling, dissipating, and dissolving stones through pattern differentiation-based treatment. Inheriting his master’s techniques, he has persistently engaged in clinical practice, continuously innovating and developing the stone-expelling specialty. He employs basic formulas like Shijin Tang, Zhenjin Tang, Liuwei Paishi Tang, and Wushi Tang for pattern-based stone treatment and has developed multiple new formulations. His “Liqi Huayu Jiben Paishi Tang” (Qi-Regulating and Stasis-Resolving Basic Stone-Expelling Decoction) was included in the Compendium of Chinese Medicine Secret Formulas. The stone-expelling method, one of the “Three Treasures of Chancheng Hospital’s TCM”, enjoys high reputation in the Pearl River Delta region, and he is respectfully called the “King of Stone Expulsion” by the public. His achievements were recorded in Lingnan Famous Doctors (1992) and Biographic Dictionary of China’s Famous Physicians (1994).
From the 1970s to the present, Dr. Pan has mentored over 100 trainees from factories, rural areas, medical schools, and colleges. His most outstanding trainee is his son, Pan Jingbo. After graduating from high school in 1991, Pan Jingbo studied medicine under his father through self-directed learning and has now become a key physician in the TCM department of Chancheng Hospital, specializing in treating urinary and digestive system diseases with characteristic TCM therapies.
