Dr. Chen Jiahua exemplifies multidisciplinary collaboration in patient care. He partnered with Dr. Hu Haitao, Director of the Wound Repair Department, to utilize percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) for clearing the lesion within the intervertebral space. This was followed by a closed negative pressure drainage procedure, which helped lay the groundwork for Dr. Hu’s subsequent successful excision of the cyst capsule and flap repair. Through the close coordination of multidisciplinary physicians, the patient’s nerve function was protected throughout the process. By practicing this multidisciplinary collaborative model, Dr. Chen breaks down disciplinary barriers, offering patients with rare and complex diseases a more comprehensive, scientific, and holistic treatment approach.
